How do I setup Okta for the first time?

Welcome! This guide is for new NCSA employees

Okta is the service we use to login to work related services.  Using Okta’s Single Sign On (SSO) allows you to only need 1 password and it’s Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) secures access to all of your accounts by requiring another form of confirming your login after you enter your password.

To set up Okta, you will need a Computer and your Cellphone. Please have those ready as we take you through the set up!  Please follow every step of this guide to make sure you are ready to login to everything you will need to work.

First Login & Password Setup

• an email will be sent to your personal email to activate
• It will begin by asking you to start setting up your security methods. Please begin by clicking on the password setup button

• It will then prompt you to set a new password with the requirements listed
• Next it will ask for your phone number to send you a code for Multifactor authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication Setup

• Once your password is set, you can then add your MFA options
• SMS is required
• it is highly recommended to have more then one MFA method 
  • Our recommendation is the Okta Verify option as well
    • Install the free Okta Verify app on your phone via the app store
    • Hit setup on the Okta Verify option on your computer
    • Hit "Add Account" and follow the prompts on your phone to add your Okta account

You should now be logged in and ready to use Okta.  Any of the apps available to you can be launched from this page. rchamps.okta.com
